About Me

Biography

Zhongwei Qiu is currently working as an algorithm expert at Alibaba DAMO Academy, working closely with Dr. Yingda Xia and Dr. Ling Zhang on Medical Multimodal Large Language Models (Medical LLMs, LVLMs), and the applications on Cancer Analysis (Screening, Diagnosis, Prognosis, etc.). He has worked with Dr. Le Lu on Pathology Image Analysis.

Zhongwei Qiu is also a Postdoctoral Researcher, working with Prof. Fei Wu, at the College of Computer Science and Technology, Zhejiang University.

He received his Ph.D. degree from the University of Science and Technology Beijing (USTB), supervised by Prof. Dongmei Fu, co-supervised by Dr. Jianlong Fu from Microsoft Research Asia (MSRA). Before that, he received his B.S. degree in Automation from USTB in 2018. He was a visiting researcher at the University of Sydney (USYD) from July 2022 to July 2023, supervised by Dr. Chang Xu.

  • 2025.06:  🎉🎉🎉 🔥🔥🔥 Our work [AI-based large-scale screening of gastric cancer from noncontrast CT imaging] is published on Nature Medicine !!! This work represents the first successful demonstration and marks the beginning of large-scale cancer screening for hollow organs (e.g., the stomach) using AI models based on non-contrast CT scans.
